Science for Today and Tomorrow

Summary

Science for Today and Tomorrow (SfTT) had three supplementary units in life science for grades 6-8. One unit focused on cells, a second on human organs, and a third on genes. Incorporating a technology-enhanced design, the units consisted of an integrated suite of hands-on, online, and print components. For each unit, students developed an in-depth understanding of a limited number of standards-based ideas of life science. Embedded professional development opportunities allowed teachers to further their content knowledge and technical abilities in the context of their teaching.

This work was funded in part by a grant from the National Science Foundation (ESI-0101791).
