SummaryThe Data Clubs project developed, implemented, and test four new modules on data science for middle school youth that brought together powerful Computer Science tools with engaging, curated data sets. It was implemented in rural and urban settings, including the 4-H SPIN Clubs in Maine and a local partner in the Boston area. The project was interested in broadening participation in this emerging field before stereotypes about who participates became entrenched.
Professional development for teachers in Maine whose students want to use existing datasets in their science fair projects were also developed.
