Poornima Peiris

Biography

Poornima Peiris is an engineer interested in all things STEM related and she is currently a Research Associate at TERC and graduate student in Bioengineering and Nanotechnology at Harvard. She has conducted research in various STEM disciplines in industry, academic, and national labs. She was a participant of NASA’s space grant program and has also worked with the Department of Energy in national security and nuclear engineering.

She has co-authored a paper in the Oxford Academic Journal during her work with Boston Children’s Hospital. She was previously a contributor for Forbes Science and the Scientista Foundation. She’s also an artist and recently won her library’s bookmark art contest and has had her work displayed at an exhibit in France and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

Poornima is passionate about engaging in scientific research that benefits the public and communicating science in an effective manner while encouraging women and minorities to pursue STEM related careers.
