Celebrate 75 Years of STEM with Music, Science, and Hands-On Fun
ReSounding Success: A Community Celebration of Sound and STEM
Saturday, May 10, 2025 | 1:00–5:00 PM | Eden Place Farms, Chicago, IL

Chicago, IL – April 25, 2025 – On Saturday, May 10, families, artists, and science enthusiasts are invited to ReSounding Success, a free, all-ages celebration of sound, science, and creativity at Eden Place Farms, located in the heart of Chicago’s South Side.
Running from 1:00 to 5:00 PM, the event honors the 75th anniversary of the National Science Foundation (NSF) with an afternoon full of interactive exhibits, sound exploration, and hands-on learning. Visitors can try out DJ mixing stations, experiment with field recording gear, meet scientists and sound artists, and enjoy short films—all while exploring one of Chicago’s most vibrant urban farms.
“We know some people find museums too quiet, while others find children museums too noisy,” says Martha Merson, ReSounding Success planner and Senior Scientist at TERC. “This event is designed to be the perfect balance—where you can engage with sound in a way that’s fun and interactive. You won’t just learn about sound—you’ll play with it, shape it, and experience how it affects you.”
This event is organized by TERC, a leading nonprofit in STEM education research and development, and the organization’s Sound Travels project, which investigates how soundscapes—the sounds around us—impact learning in spaces like parks, zoos, and science centers. Partners from Solidarity Studios in Chicago, The Neighborhood Art School in Detroit, and Great Lakes Audubon are part of the event planning team and will be on hand to share insights on how the sounds in our environments influence how we think, feel, and interact with the world.
Highlights include:
- DJ booths and sound mixing equipment to try out
- Conversations with scientists, artists, and sound engineers
- Interactive exhibits and sound-based STEM activities
- Nature-based experiences for kids and families
- Food vendors and picnic areas
- A curated selection of short films about sound and science
Whether visitors are curious kids, creative adults, or simply looking for a fun and educational way to spend a Saturday, ReSounding Success promises to inspire, entertain, and deepen appreciation for how sound impacts our everyday lives.
Registration for the event is here, but drop-ins are welcome.
