Andee Rubin Keynote from IASE 2025 Satellite Conference Now Available
Andee Rubin of TERC delivered a keynote presentation at the IASE 2025 Satellite Conference: Statistics and Data Science Education in STEAM, exploring how educators can recognize and use data in a wide range of learning environments.
In her keynote, “Data are everywhere – In every class and even outside of school,” Rubin encourages educators to develop a “data lens”, a way of seeing opportunities for working with data beyond the traditional settings of mathematics, statistics, or science classrooms.
The keynote paper shares the characteristics of a “data lens” and provides examples of engaging data activities for learners of all ages. Rubin highlights how students can explore data in informal learning environments such as museums, zoos, aquariums, and after-school programs, demonstrating that meaningful data experiences can happen both inside and outside of school.
