TERC and MMSA Seek Educators for Learning from Student Thinking
TERC and the Maine Mathematics & Science Alliance (MMSA) are recruiting educators to participate in Learning from Student Thinking, a new project focused on learning from the mathematical thinking of neurodivergent students in grades 3–5.
There are two paid opportunities for educators to get involved:
Educator Consultants
Six educators will join the project as consultants, helping to facilitate training and support participating educators. Educators with experience working with neurodivergent math learners in grades 3–5 are encouraged to apply.
The 10-month consulting role is approximately 150 hours and includes $5,000 in compensation.
Participating Educators
Approximately 40 educators will receive training and interview five students about their mathematical thinking. Participants will gain new insights into the ways students approach and communicate mathematical ideas while contributing to research aimed at strengthening support for neurodivergent students in math.
Participating educators will receive $700 and six contact hours.
