TERC’s Ibrahim Dahlstrom-Hakki Leads New Journal Collection on Codesign for Neuroinclusive Learning

TERC is pleased to share that Senior Research Scientist Ibrahim Dahlstrom-Hakki is organizing a new Article Collection in Cogent Education titled “Codesign for Neuroinclusive Learning: Participatory Approaches Across K–12, Higher Education, and Informal Learning.”

This collection centers on the growing movement to engage neurodivergent learners as active partners in the design of educational environments, tools, and practices. By positioning learners as co-designers and knowledge holders, this work aims to move beyond traditional models of accommodation toward more inclusive and empowering approaches to teaching and learning.

The collection invites contributions that explore participatory approaches across a wide range of contexts, including K–12 schools, higher education, and informal learning environments. Topics of interest include curriculum and assessment design, educator professional learning, assistive and emerging technologies (such as AI and AR/VR), executive function and sensory supports, and broader institutional practices that shape access and belonging.

This initiative comes at a critical time, as educators and researchers seek more effective ways to support diverse learners. Codesign approaches offer new opportunities to surface overlooked barriers, build on learner strengths, and create more responsive and affirming educational experiences.

The submission deadline for the collection is February 15, 2027.
