Dr. Mia Ong Presents 25-Year Study on Women of Color in Physics at APS Summit

Dr. Mia Ong will present at the APS Global Physics Summit on March 16 (3:30–4:06 PM) with a talk titled “The Double Bind in Physics Education: Intersectionality, Equity, and Belonging for Women of Color.”

Drawing on a 25-year longitudinal study, the presentation explores the lived experiences of women of color in physics, examining challenges such as invisibility, identity-based harassment, and low expectations—alongside the strategies and communities that support persistence in the field.

The session highlights how race and gender intersect in shaping experiences in physics and what institutions can do to foster greater equity and belonging.
