Kelly Paulson to Present Code in Motion by SPARKS Collaboration at ISTE 2026

Kelly Paulson, Educational Outreach Coordinator at TERC, will present Cross-Sector Collaboration: Expanding CS Opportunity for Students Experiencing Homelessness at the ISTE 2026 Conference on Monday, June 29, from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., alongside Coach Ron from Fun Zone Reading Club 4 Homeless and Dr. Heather Cunningham from BootUp PD.

This presentation is about the project Code in Motion by Sparks is a cross-sector collaboration that brings together a STEM education organization, a computer science nonprofit, and a local after-school program to expand computer science learning opportunities for students and families experiencing homelessness. The partners worked together to co-design computer science learning experiences with families, centering community voices in the development of the program.

A key element of the initiative is training local parents as facilitators, creating opportunities for community leadership while supporting students’ engagement in computer science and STEM learning.

The ISTE poster session will highlight how partners from different sectors can work together to create meaningful, community-driven change in education. Attendees will gain insights and practical strategies for building partnerships that foster belonging, creativity, and expanded access to computer science learning.
