TERC Staff Present at OPEC Virtual Conference on Supporting Immigrant and Refugee Families

TERC’s Scott Pattison, Smirla Ramos Montañez, and Viviana López Burgos will be presenting at the Oregon Parenting Education Collaborative (OPEC) Virtual Conference on May 6, 2025. Together with colleagues from across the field, they will share insights from a two-year, NSF-funded collaborative project supporting immigrant and refugee families from the Greater Middle East region.
Their session, “Collaborating with Immigrant and Refugee Families from the Greater Middle East Region: Centering Cultural Humility, Mutual Learning, and Trauma-Informed Approaches,” will highlight lessons learned from adapting an out-of-school STEM learning program for families with preschool-age children. Participants will be invited to reflect and discuss key ideas emerging from the project, including approaches that center cultural humility, foster mutual learning, and support trauma-informed practice.
