Calling for members of the STEM workforce who are deaf or hard of hearing to participate in a new project.

TERC is looking for members of the STEM workforce who are deaf or hard of hearing to participate in the STEM Workforce Stories for Adolescents Who Are Deaf or Hard of Hearing project (NSF Award #2005511). Stories will be less than less than 5 minutes long and be designed and recorded with the assistance of the project team by you at home at a time that is convenient for you. They will provide a snapshot of the experiences that led up to your career, what you do and where and how you do it, challenges you encounter(ed) and how you respond(ed) to them.

The purpose of the stories is to contribute to middle and high school students’ awareness of the range of STEM careers that are available and of their potential ability to pursue and succeed in a STEM career. Stories will be delivered as a podcast that students use at home or in out-of-school settings. They will feature professionals with occupations in a different STEM area.

We are looking for a broad range of STEM professionals of all ages, including teachers, technicians, and researchers. If you are deaf or hard of hearing and would like to share your story, please send email to judy_vesel@terc.edu or tara_robillard@terc.edu for more information.
