On June 4th, TERC hosted the Doing the Math Celebration, honoring the dedicated paraeducators who completed the program.

This professional development (PD) model boosts paras’ confidence, knowledge of elementary math concepts, pedagogical strategies, and understanding of student learning in mathematics. We believe that sustained PD and educational opportunities for paraeducators can create pathways to teaching, diversify the teaching pool, and address the critical teacher shortage in high-need urban schools.

Many thanks to the following individuals for sharing their congratulations with this exceptional group of co-educators: Laurie Brennan, TERC President; Dr. Stephen Alkins, Boston School Committee; David Martinez, Chief of Staff, Equity and Inclusion Cabinet; Boston City Councilor Mejia. Special thanks to Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics Shooting Guard, for donating an autographed jersey that one lucky co-educator got to take home.
