EALA Community of Action
ND in STEM team member Kelly Paulson had the privilege of attending the Educating All Learners Alliance Community of Action in January 2026. EALA, an alliance dedicated to support for students with disabilities and learning differences, brought together organizations with similar missions for an energetic 36-hour “dolphin tank.” Groups found a common problem of practice, created and pitched work to move toward a solution, and as a collective, selected which would receive funding. While ND in STEM was not successful this year*, Kelly had a chance to work with representatives from Compass High School, The Village it Takes, and the Patrick Lyndon Pilot School in West Roxbury, MA. They considered how storytelling could give a voice to learners so they could be known and seen by those who support them. The event was an inspirational reminder that people, with whole heart and mind, are still dedicated to this work.
*TERC was awarded funds last year that have been supporting Code in Motion by Sparks, a collaborative initiative to provide computer science education to homeless young people.
