Astrobiology: An Integrated Science Approach
An Integrated Science Approach is interdisciplinary in the true sense of the word. The story of the origin, nature, and search for life in the universe weaves its way through disciplines of biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, and Earth science as well as sociology, ethics, and the psychology of human thought and behavior. These disciplines do not exist in isolation; they tend to interact according to certain themes we call concept threads. We have spotlighted these threads throughout the text. Use these themes to guide you as the astrobiology story unfolds. The threads are not exhaustive; rather, they lay the fundamentals for future study in each of the scientific disciplines.
