Mia researches how educational technologies help promote student engagement, persistence, and STEM learning. Her current work involves using educational data mining techniques to understand how students respond to educational games, and how this information can be leveraged by teachers in the classroom.
Her background includes a PhD in Cognitive Science at Columbia University, under the mentorship of Dr. Ryan Baker and Dr. Herbert Ginsburg. She was an elementary school teacher in the Philippines and is passionate about supporting students with cognitive differences.
