#18-11 - Marketing/Communications Manager

Technical Education Research Centers, Inc. (TERC), an innovative 501c3 not-for-profit organization focused on STEM education research and development and located in historic, college-rich Cambridge, MA, is seeking a Marketing/Communications Manager. The person in this role will report to the President and will manage two part-time communications staff.

Founded in 1965, TERC is committed to improving math and science education for all learners. TERC works at the frontiers of theory and practice to: contribute to a deeper understanding of learning and teaching; enhance instruction through teacher professional development; develop ways of applying new technologies to education; create curricula and other products; and support curricular and pedagogical reform, both in school and informal settings. TERC programs involve learners of all ages—early childhood, K-12, undergraduate, graduate, and adult education.

#18-12 - Research Associate

This is a full-time position 80-100% (32-40 hours a week) that will start in the summer of 2018 and end in May 2019.  The Learning about Open Response science test items and English Learners (LOREL) project and the Dynamic Mathematics for English Language Learners (DMELL) projects are based at TERC and involve researchers from a number of other institutions. The goal of the LOREL project is to investigate the reading, writing, and STE demands of the open response test items on the state Science and Technology, Engineering (STE) test in Massachusetts and the effects of these demands on the performance of Grade 5 English Language Learners (ELLs).  The goal of the DMEL project is to explore how ELLs use mathematics education software to engage in Common Core State Standards mathematical practices and to share with the research community design principles for using such software with ELLs.

#18-13 - IT/Facilities Support

This is a full-time position.  The Desktop Support Specialist is responsible for installing, configuring, troubleshooting, supporting and repairing computer hardware, software, and peripherals.

TERC is an all Mac environment. The successful candidate will be very familiar with Apple’s physical and digital products as well as industry standard computer management practices. This is a full time, onsite support position as part of a combined IT and Facilities department; the role may include some facilities services. The successful candidate will have regular direct interaction with staff via email, chat, phone, and in-person.  They will thrive in a team environment, but also be able to tackle small projects on their own.

#18-14 - Staff Accountant:  Payroll & Purchasing

The successful candidate will be part of a 6-person Finance Department and will be responsible for various accounting and operation support functions, including the payroll process and purchasing activities. This position may be full-time (40 hours per week) or 80% (32 hours per week), including benefits. Starting salary is based on a full-time annual equivalent of 43k-53k and is commensurate with experience.
