The goal of this project is to systemically reform K-8 science education in Indiana through teacher professional development. The program takes a two-pronged approach to this reform, by teaching educators how to foster and scaffold guided science inquiry in their classrooms, while also providing them with well-stocked, research-based science kits aligned with state standards. SEEC’s summative evaluation of this program describes the ISI PD experience and how it influences curricular implementation, formative assessment, and sustainability. Through longitudinal and quasi-experimental studies, we are measuring impact of ISI on teacher efficacy and student achievement.
