Goal for this session<\/em><\/strong>: Science begins with questions about the natural world.  In this session you craft an investigation question that guides activities and discussions and leads students to a deeper understanding of a disciplinary core idea (DCI).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  2. Get to know the\u00a0Investigation Question Planning Tool<\/em>\u00a0(docx)<\/a>. Review the\u00a0Example<\/em>\u00a0(pdf)\u00a0filled-in tool for\u00a0Investigating Water Transformations<\/em>\u00a0Investigation 4, What does a drop of water weigh?<\/a><\/li>
  3. Complete the\u00a0Investigation Question PLC Activity<\/a>.<\/li>
  4. See how\u00a0NGSS<\/em>\u00a0grade 5 performance expectations<\/a>\u00a0help students formulate answers to\u00a0questions.\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0As students learn to answer these questions, they learn more about practices, crosscutting concepts, and DCIs described in the NRC\u00a0Framework<\/a><\/em>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    2. Identify the learning goal.<\/li>
