The 2011 Cambridge Science Festival Comes to TERC on Wednesday, May 4th

CAMBRIDGE, MA–TERC is hosting “Climate Literacy 101: Discovering Climate Science" on Wednesday, May 4th, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. as part of the 5th annualCambridge Science Festival festivities. This event will showcase innovative activities that blend mobile gaming and mystery solving.
Visitors will come together in groups to play a clue-based science mystery game using handhelds and QR tags. The game will be presented by EdGE@TERC, the creators of the soon-to-be released scaffolded scientific inquiry-based transmedia game “Canaries in a Coalmine” (Summer 2011).
Selected TERC projects and work strands highlighted in the game include:
- Biosphere and Climate: Understanding Climate Change in New England
- CLEAN Pathway
- Climate Science programming
- Educational Gaming Environments at TERC (EdGE@TERC)
- The Inquiry Project
- Kids’ Survey Network
- Mixing in Math
TERC staff will lead groups and be present to help with instructions. Door prizes and refreshments will be available; content caters to age 14+. Be sure to bring an iPhone if you have one for QR tag reader download—limited devices available.
This event is free and open to the public and will take place at TERC’s offices on the 2nd floor of the Henderson Carriage Building at 2067 Massachusetts Avenue.
