Investigations Workshops for Transforming Mathematics
Project Director: Myriam Steinback
Topics: General Math
Grade Levels: Elementary
These week-long professional development workshops are designed for teachers, leaders, and others implementing or supporting the implementation of the Investigations in Number, Data, and Space K-5 mathematics curriculum. Offered in locations across the country, the fee-based workshops provide participants opportunities to learn the mathematics content and pedagogy of Investigations and translate them into action in their own schools.
Participants explore mathematics at a deeper level, assess students’ mathematical thinking and understanding, and model teaching and learning experiences they will encounter in their own classrooms—while working both collaboratively and individually, sharing their own and listening to other's problem-solving strategies. Workshops stress the importance of teachers' own mathematical learning as the sessions address issues relevant to implementation.
