This research project will study the characteristics of online science courses for teachers that correlate to positive learning outcomes for women. Though online professional development for teachers is growing rapidly, and women are the largest users of online education, there are no large-scale studies focusing on women learners in online professional development courses in science. The project will identify characteristics of online science courses for teachers that are beneficial to women's learning, and study the relationship between these characteristics and women science teachers' performance and participation.
