A mini-symposium took place in Arlington, Virginia, October 27-28, 2009 that focused on paving pathways to success for women of color in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through perspectives on experiences, research, evaluation and policy in higher education and careers. Participants worked together to advance a research and policy agenda promoting women of color in STEM fields. Speakers at this conference included Dr. Tina Tchen, the Executive Director of the White House Council on Women and Girls and the White House Director of Public Engagement; Dr. Evelynn Hammonds, Dean of Harvard College; and Dr. Joan Burrelli, Senior Annalyst, Science Resources Statistics National Science Foundation. TERC coordinated the symposium and has prepared a conference report.
