Full time position. TERC's Center for School Reform seeks a Senior Research Associate, for a cutting-edge interactive electronic community, MSPnet created for the National Science Foundation. MSPnet serves as both a national resource center for projects engaged in Mathematics and Science reform, and as a collegial network that fosters collaboration and communication online.

We seek a researcher to conduct research and evaluation on many aspects of this rich and complex project, including front end assessment for a major redesign of the network, formative assessment, research on collaborative tools and collegial networking.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D in cognitive science, learning sciences, or a related field, or a Masters degree with several years of relevant research experience. He/she should have a demonstrated interest in researching electronic communities or social networks, excellent experience with both quantitative and qualitative research methods, excellent communication and writing skills, and the ability to work well on a team. Expertise in areas such as social network analysis, distributed knowledge, expert networks, or cognitive engineering for collaborative environments are a plus, as is an interest in math and science educational policy. The position will sometimes require travel.
