Senior Web Applications Specialist

Full-time position. TERC's Center for School Reform seeks a Senior Web Applications Specialist for its MSPnet project, a cutting-edge interactive electronic community for a major National Science Foundation initiative called the Math and Science Partnerships (MSPs). MSPnet facilitates collaboration between the MSP projects and between partners within each project, and provides a public face for the program and its projects.

The Senior Web Applications Specialist will join a team that includes 2 other senior applications developers, as well as researchers, and content developers to work on a major redesign of this national resource center and collegial network. The specialist will be responsible for the design and development of new interactive functionalities and will contribute to the design and integration of content management and data reporting tools. The specialist's work will span end-use functionality and web application infrastructure. This position is approximately 40% design/prototyping, 35% development/integration, and 25% usability testing.

The successful applicant will have: proficiency in a wide range of web application technologies, including ColdFusion, SQL (Postgresql is preferred), XML, Javascript/HTML/CSS, Flash/AJAX and experience in working on large, complex web applications, including content management and/or community aspects; strong communication and coordination skills; and ability to effectively share and document designs and code. We are seeking expertise in one or more of the following areas: Java, prototyping methodologies, web analytics, recommender/collaborative filtering systems, and/or design for social networking. A Bachelor’s Degree with 5 to 7 years experience required.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Our final short-list of candidates will be invited to complete a programming challenge.
